Camping is no stranger to the alternative emo scene in Singapore. comprising members from Terrible People, Bethari, and Charm. Their debut release in mid-2023 marked a promising entry into the emo canon, with a two-track demo. The four-piece has since opened for acts such as Anxious and Angel Du$t and is slated to open for Citizen and a local New Year’s Eve mini-festival.

On their debut EP Never Been Camping, the band embraces the various strands of emo that each member turns to for comfort and re-emerges with a cohesive sonic identity that rings familiar to their American contemporaries, yet eludes typical markers of the genre. The seven-track album delves into feelings universal to the experience of emerging from the chrysalis of late adolescence: whether the revisiting of ordinary moments in the rearview mirror or the disquieting erosion of close relationships.
